Many Dewey trainees find new firms

Several firms have agreed to provide new homes for as many of Dewey & LeBoeuf’s current and future trainees as possible, following the US firm's much-publicised collapse - though the number of trainees without new firms remains unknown.
Seven former Dewey trainees will join Peter Sharp (who recently left his position as head of Dewey's London office) at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. As reported in The Lawyer, Dechert is also hoping to offer new positions to a small number of second-year trainees, while Ropes & Gray is in the process of offering new homes to a mix of trainees from Dewey's current and 2012 intakes. Weil Gotshal & Manges and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer are also reportedly hiring a mix of current and future Dewey trainees.
Commenting on other firms' responses to the plight of Dewey trainees, Dewey HR manager Katharyn White said: "It’s hugely encouraging that the legal community has rallied at this difficult time to help these individuals at an early stage of their legal careers."
