Lee Bolton Monier-Williams is a medium-sized firm based in Westminster.
Types of work
We offer extensive experience and advice across a wide spectrum of activities including corporate and commercial; private client; commercial and residential property; education; ecclesiastical and charity; litigation; employment; family and IP.
LBMW has, in various guises, been situated in the heart of Westminster for more than 150 years. Traditionally, the firm's client base was the various arms of the Church of England and wealthy individuals and land owners. Today, LBMW is a diverse and modern firm but with the traditional values and practice areas still forming the backbone. Our clients include mid sized corporates, entrepreneurs, international charities, commercial landlords and tenants, high net worth individuals, well known wine and spirits brands and many faith bodies and education providers.
Who should apply
We seek to recruit trainees with a good degree (2:1 or above), good A levels, first-class communication skills, motivation, professionalism, initiative, enthusiasm and a sense of humour. The academic and work experience background is important but we also look for applicants with a drive, an outlook and interests that mean they will make a positive contribution to the Firm and will thrive in the LBMW environment.
Our vacation scheme runs for three days. During that time the candidates will rotate around the four main departments undertaking both written tasks and being involved in real files whilst experiencing the office environment. There will also be some group activities such as a mock trial and a client pitch. Candidates will spend time with the trainees and meet the partners at drinks and lunch respectively. This forms a key part of our selection process as we invite some candidates for interview based on which we then make training contract offers.
Trainees spend six months in four seats following induction from: private client; commercial and dispute resolution; property (commercial or residential); education, ecclesiastical and charities. Training is comprehensive and covers a full induction programme, participation in internal seminars and training sessions, and attendance at external courses including the Professional Skills Course.
£7,000 contribution in 2023.
We are firmly committed to being a diverse and inclusive place to work with policies, practices and a culture in place to deliver this.
