Pathways to Law

Pathways to Law is an initiative for state school students who are interested in a legal career and will be first-generation attendees at university. There's other criteria for the programme and the more of these criteria that an applicant meets, the more likely they are to be offered a place. 

Established by The University of Law and The Sutton Trust, the programme targets students from under-represented backgrounds and provides support throughout years 12, 13 and during university. Funding partners include Barclays, Cooley (UK) LLP, DLA Piper UK LLP, Hogan Lovells and the Law Society. A number of universities are also partners of the scheme, including Cardiff University, the University of Exeter and the University of Leeds; it's the universities that undertake the recruitment and selection of participants. The programme is two years long and its delivery will vary between the universities that offer it. All students on the scheme will have access to Sutton Trust Online and can also, among other things:

• apply for a work experience placement; 
• attend university events; and 
• get an undergraduate mentor.
