US firm Squire Patton Boggs (UK) LLP has reinforced its London bankruptcy team in anticipation of the cost-of-living crisis.
As a result of worsening economic conditions, the firm’s hired five restructuring and insolvency lawyers from rival firm Brown Rudnick LLP. This includes Charlotte Møller, who was previously head of the European bankruptcy and corporate restructuring practice group at the firm.
She joins fellow Brown Rudnick colleague Monika Lorenzo-Perez and three other senior lawyers at the firm: Helena Clarke, Rebecca Terrace and Sabina Khan.
Stephen Lerner, global chair of the firm’s restructuring and insolvency practice group, stated: “These hires represent a significant addition into our global team at a time when we anticipate that the current economic climate is likely to cause higher levels of distress across many industries and the restructuring market will pick up.
“Charlotte, Monika, and their team bring significant expertise handling complex national and cross-border restructurings and insolvencies and will add even greater depth to our global offering to clients.”
Adding to this, European Managing Partner Jonathan Jones said: “With practitioners of their calibre, we are well-positioned to support new and existing clients with whatever their financial and corporate needs are in the future.”
Squire Patton Boggs was formed by a merger between multinational firm Squire Sanders & Dempsey and Washington DC-based Patton Boggs in 2014.
The firm’s global restructuring and insolvency practice has more than 130 lawyers in 36 offices across 15 countries. The practice is said to collaborate on domestic and cross-border restructuring matters with its London office based in the City.
